On the 19th of January, 2010 the most sensational cash prize in the history of Belarusian lotteries – BYR 1 000 000 000 – was handed over to the winner. In the solemn atmosphere the Minister of sports and tourism of the Republic of Belarus Oleg Kachan congratulated the winner of the 253rd New Year draw of SUPERLOTO – a citizen of Vitebsk Vasily Germanenko.
Speaking about the circumstances which led him to this victory, Vasily Germanenko mentioned that he is a permanent admirer of the SUPERLOTO lottery and that he won a great sum of money for the first time. At the same time he had always believed in his luck. When asked about his plans as regards spending his win money the sixty-year-old Vasily Germanenko answered that he would spend the billion on his big and friendly family. Moreover, the billionaire transferred BYR 10 000 000 to Vitebsk City Specialized Children’s Home and the same sum of money to the Parish of the Resurrection church in Vitebsk.
Now the name of Vasily Germanenko will be written in golden letters in the chronicle of the happiest people of our country and his example will inspire thousands of skeptics to participate in the SUPERLOTO lottery.
